lipstick and champagne - did you notice my scrawling this? did you care? did you smear the pink with your fleshy fingertips, erasing my heartwords and lipstick, blending it with the foam on the glass? did you?
Did you know I have Chinese/Manchu in my blood? I’ve heard from people I look “sort of Asian” even though I’m blonde + blue/green-eyed. It’s my facial shape I suppose. But I like it. I’ve gone very, very dark over the years and my blonde hair is slowly losing it’s hold on my straws. I enjoy being mixed, though. It’s different. It might not make me beautiful or even pretty but hey, at least it’s unique. I’m a mix between Swedish/French/Chinese. I kinda like it. Are you mixed - too?

so after having my shot and feeling kind of sleepy and stiff, i’m curled up in bed with the girl who played with fire and catching fire, re-reading my favorite parts. i adore the gale parts. he is my #1 guy-who-isn’t-the-narrator in books. he’s precious. he’s a man. he’s strong. he’s handsome. he’s smart. he wants justice. he’s flawed. he’s kind. he’s got a temper. how is he not perfect for katniss?! all peeta does is being weak, “smiling ruefully”, whining and “zomg katniss, you need to go home. i’ll sacrifice myself for you,” also he didn’t want katniss to save gale from being whipped to death, the soab. peeta can gtfo. he’s a little boy and gale, gale’s a man.
this triangle is one i enjoy very much, though. i like it because they are all well-written characters with good sides and bad sides. they are people who could exist irl. also it doesn’t take away much focus from the amazing main storyline. the hunger games would do just fine without any romance in it because it’s such a haunting and strong story itself. this is the best young adult book i have - and probably ever will - read. it’s amazing. i read it on march 8th and 9th (depending on which time zone you count) on a plane to china and early in the morning at beijing airport witing for the flight to guangzhou. the reason i’m bringing this up is because it was that feeling that i was going somewhere unknown and far away that added to the whole hunger games world - panem. it felt like i was entering the future, coming to hong kong. just like the capitol. i read it while listening to e-type’s song time which i now associate with the book - embarrassingly enough. i think the surroundings/music when you read a book is important. i felt like it was a different place, a a different time far away. i had an awesome reading experience which i personally think is important. overall this is a masterpiece in young adult literature - i adore it.
i’m fine with katniss ending up alone. i’d prefer it if she ended up alone, rather that end up with peeta. they don’t fit together at all. she grew up with gale and they’ve fought to survive their whole lives - together. i hope she ends up with gale because he’s good for her and he’s real. please the hunger games #3 come hither now.
